A Picture Tour Of My Hollywood

I haven't been able to walk around my neighborhood for 3 or 4 years because of my two surgeries. Now I can and I was either looking up or looking down and amazed I didn't fall into a manhole or get hit by a car.
If someone robbed this bank they'd have a built-in getaway car.
I tried to take a picture of the guy who shines all the stars. He has one leg and never used to get paid. Now he does. He shines them all by hand. I stopped and asked if I could take his picture and he said "What's in it for me?" I said,"I'll put you on my blog." He said he didn't want anything on the internet because of all the 'trouble' that could cause down the line. I asked him if he had a computer.
"No," he replied. Next time I'm not asking.
I have two unsold screenplays but I DON'T NEED TO BE REMINDED OF IT by of all things, A FUCKING BANK.

End of first walk in a very long time.

  4. At least no one is writing you and accusing you of being a "stalker" because you happen to have the same followers as them....which is insanity personfied when the twit started blogging after me...go figure.

  5. Wow, so much more to see on a walk than around my house. I love it! I'm glad you are able to get out and walk.

  11. I want some of what Braja and VodkaMom are having.

I haven't walked my neighborhood in while, either, but not because I've had surgeries - I'm just lazy.

Where do I collect my free Burma? Does it come in blue?

Congrats on rejoining the ambulatory, Mizz Suzy.

  12. Suzy, you should have taken a picture of him anyway! If he only had one leg... I think you could have out run him...even if it was your first "walking" outing in a while...I think you could have just out walked him you wouldn't have even needed to run.

  13. Very cool. Yeah, I don't ask. Probably going to get in trouble for it someday. I try to miss faces though, that seems important.

I've been to Hollywood once. Went there 2 1/2 years ago to the Kodak to watch my daughter cheer in the state finals. They were awesome.

Anyway, I had hours and hours to walk around by myself.

Those Chase ads are hilarious. They purchased Washington Mutual and now, all of a sudden, they are the better way to bank in California. I wonder if they have a similar ad campaign, but say Washington and Oregon for those states.

    Cheers,

    SLC

  14. I love photo walks like this - it's like lazily following you around in a totally non-stalkerish way.

  20. Glad you are walking again. But only two screenplays? I thought everyone in Hollywood had at least a half dozen . . .

  21. You need a telephoto lens--then you never need permission!

  22. I never ask....but I try not to get faces, I tend to get a lot of butts and backs. They are usually running away from me screaming at the time... but I get pictures

  23. I take sneak shots more often than not. This walk was a true eye opener to me. Banks with signs? Here it's the churches with the signs that make me shudder.

  24. I'm glad you can go for walks finally. I remember the boot and the little trolley you had to ride. What a pain in the ass that was. I know you're glad that's over.

  25. Thanks for the walking tour...and the laughs.

  26. Fun post, Suzy. Man, that bank ad is a low blow!

If I showed scenes from a walk around my 'hood, you'd see elderly women riding beach bikes, an alligator sunning himself on the bank of a pond, and signs warning about speed "humps" (Why not bumps? I don't know.). You'd return home with 284 mosquito bites and flat or frizzy hair, depending on how yours takes 95% humidity. As for celeb spotting, the choices are pretty much limited to the cast of One Tree Hill and Linda Lavin. The last time I was in your neighborhood, I saw Chris Rock and John Mahoney within seconds of each other, so you win!
