Elementary School Children Beware

For the twenty-seven people over 40 who don't know what NaBloPoMo is, it's a bunch of insane bloggers who decide to post every fucking day in November. I went to their website to see if I could find some funny non-mommy blogs to read and chose the randomizer to sort through the over 6,100 that are listed as this year's participants.

In the process I found a widget on one of them that, after entering a url, reveals the educational reading level of that blog.

This was mine:
cash advance
It's nice to know that my world view has trickled down to those scary unique, outcasts special kids who are funny, swear, talk about Hollywood and bad relationships and have a sarcastic take on life. Or maybe I'm only comprehensible if you're 12 years old and know how to accessorize.

I was willing to take the hit until I loaded in some other urls and discovered these results:

Perez Hilton - Junior High School level
The Onion - High School level
Craig's List - Genius level
The Superficial - Elementary School level

So I guess it's true.

End of chat.

  1. My blog is also Elementary School level. I thought it was because I sometimes have E check my grammer for me.
A very very long time ago while in college, I wrote a 20 page research paper and had the computer check my grade level of writing and it came back as 7th grade. I received an A on the paper. And it wasn't community college.

Ok so I checked all five of the blogs that I love to read (AFTER I read yours OF COURSE!) and holy mother of pearl they are ALL elementary school!!! What does this say about me? I can only comprehend on an elementary level? I'm not fit to have a 3rd grader because I read like one myself? I'm a little creeped out.

  4. Mine is so off the charts it couldn't even check it but my intense desire to write "So eat me" probably means it should be in the elementary school category.

  5. Meh, no worries. Rickey's blog just classified with as "High School" level. It's fucking great that Rickey's blog falls into a classification of a place where people spend the most awkward years of their lives.

So chin up, it could be worse.

You've got to be kidding about Perez. I'm guessing he's just getting points for his bilingual title.

I'm rocking the Elementary wit' y'all.

I did this myself recently and got upset that mine is High School level, and posted a comment to that effect. Someone else replied back that basically I'm an idiot because it doesn't mean I write to that level. It means it's the minimum amount of education required to read my blog. Whatever. Seeing "high school" level just made me feel dumb, and then some complete stranger made me feel dumber.

Hey Junk, it's just a randomizer and means nothing. I just can't figure out how it randomizes...

  11. Interesting that you write at an elementary school level considering the content is not. That's actually pretty cool. Here's to everyman (and everywoman).

Annd, the results imply that you have to have an elementary school education to read my blog, not that I write at that level.

I still don't know how the randomizer works, except I think it's a numbers game. Few genius levels and more lower levels..

  14. What?! Is this thing totally random? I just did it, and it says mine is genius. There's just something so intellectual about always talking about my period, I guess.

    Go figure! Happy turkey day!

  15. Hello again...upon further examination, it is a totally random bullshit widget. Still fun to think about, though. :-)
