Just Couldn't Get It Together

I got nothin'.

I'm still cleaning up from my pity party. There was leftover cake. I also spent a lot of time staring at my shoes. If you are reading this blog for the first time, I realize this sounds strange. If you've read it before, I realize it still sounds strange. Who stares at their shoes all weekend? Or has a party where there is leftover cake?

I'll be back to normal soon. Normal might be too strong a word.

End of chat.

  1. Aw, man! I'm just catching up here, but geez this sucks. I'm so sorry! (And it doesn't really matter that is isn't cancer - it's still a huge pain in the bahookie; you don't have to die to suffer, you know?) Anyway, one of my friend bloggers has had reconstructive foot surgery, and might be able to "help" some. She's pretty funny, too. Check her out at sothethingis.blogspot.com (It think that's it - otherwise come to my blog and click on her in the blog roll...) If you poke around on her site - or even just email her - you might get some info that helps. Good luck, hon! Hope you're feeling better soon!

  2. I wish I could have come to your party. I would have loved to also stare at your shoes and there wouldn't have been any cake left.

  3. Hey madmad, I will visit your side bar and check out your friend. Thanks for thinking of me, you're very sweet.

gm, I wish you had been here too!!

  4. Hey! What is this shit? DO NOT DO IT! I tried normal once and it's not anything you want to do. Trust me on this one. Staring at shoes is perfectly OK (at my house, anyway) but leftover cake? That's just wrong! Unless it's licorice cake, of course - which is even wronger. Unless you really like licorice cake - not that there's anything wrong with that.

  6. Oh, Suzy, I am so sorry. Like MadMan said, even though it's not life threatening, it is still all kinds of sucktacular! You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

  7. Thanks Erika. It just sometimes gets to me and I turn into the big giant baby whiner.

I'm blogging all this week on all my other run-ins with the knife. THAT'S what a whiner I am.

  10. You've got great shoes. This is worth it. They are really beautiful. Can't decide which side i like better...i think the right side because its brighter. Your lucky you have weather and places to wear those.

  11. Yeah, I love living in warm weather, yet I still have 8 pairs of boots. Go figure.

You are lucky that I have such huge-beyond belief big, god-damned feet (okay, I'm an 11). Otherwise, while you were in surgery, I would have broken into your apartment and stolen your shoes. They are all so CUTE! OHMYGOD, we'd best keep your actual knife day a deep secret, lest sinister forces are reading your blog site.

    We're all rooting for you,
    Aloha,
    Martha Jane

  13. Thanks MJ. Even though I've stolen the idea from fussy.org, I might be posting more shoes I can't wear. And I'm an 8, in case anyone is thinking of breaking in.

  14. Suzy,

Sorry I haven't been by in a while. I've been swamped. That sucks about your ankle. I have a friend whose ankle got crushed in a car accident a while back and she had a surgery where they basically they replace your ankle joint with two plastic plates that rest on top of each other. Or something like that. Anyway, she can't run or anything but she's got decent mobility.

Thanks for ordering my book, btw. I'll send it off shortly.

Best wishes and whatnot to you.

  15. TWO PLASTIC PLATES??? I'm already a wuss, I'm not sure I could handle gladware being put in my foot.

    Looking forward to the book!

  17. Martha Jane - if you EVER come to Houston, I'm locking my closet! I, too, suffer from the curse of "I can save my family in a flood because my sneakers can double as life rafts". I'm an 11, too. I try to console myself with the fact that for my height that's not bad at all. But then I get depressed about being 4'23" and having the same length legs as friends who are 6 inches shorter!

    jami,
Used to go to Houston all the time to perform at the Laff Stop, but I believe your shoes are safe, as I am content here in Waikiki and don't travel much anymore. For the large foot, I have one word to say, "NORDSTROM." Even better, their clearance center, NORDSTROM RACK. Both are a haven for large, attractive shoes.
    Aloha,
    Martha Jane

  19. MJ,
I am intimately familiar with Nordstrom's shoe department, having made pilgrimages to San Francisco to worship there ... before they saw fit to open a store here. Houston also has Brucette's (two of them, actually), a local store which carries larger sizes in really cute shoes.

  20. Before I left Hollywood, one of the drag queen/trannie shoe stores on Hollywood Blvd near Whitley went out of business/relocated and they had a two for one sale. My parting souvenirs were a pair of 4 inch red glitter platform with ankle strap and a pair of lace up knee high silver lame 4 inch platforms. The red shoes are a 15, the silver ones are a 16 (the sales lady said they ran small).

    Why? Why not?
