There is a thing called "pain management" for people who, for instance, are only able to work and function because they are medicated. People who have been screwed up by bad surgery, etc. I have a friend who manages to work every day instead of going on permanent disability, but she needs her drugs. Her pelvis was shattered in a horrible accident and is, in the opinion of all the doctors she saw was not "repairable." So the solution for her is narcotics. The day of having people bite on a stick as a form of anesthesia is long gone. (Yes, I realize there are people who abuse drugs, but I wasn't talking about them....)

  3. Nurses (I) work all the time while medicated. It's perfectly legal as long as you have a prescription. How else do they think nurses can work under all the pressure. Otherwise, if a capable person asked us to wipe their ass, we would say "Wipe your own fat ass
you fucking whiner!" Oh and my hospital doesn't drug test. They say they never will because the last time they caught a nurse stealing narcotics and anti-anxiety meds, they fired her, and then she killed herself.
Also, I was waiting for a better name to come around beside Generation X. I like Morphine Generation much better. Even though I have only had morphine while laboring for my kids, I am sure I would like it. Sorry for the ramble. Been hitting another type of medication...

gm, I hate morphine. It makes me hallucinate and once I punched myself in the face and called the nurses and told them that the man under my bed had done it!!

    Suzy,
You were NOT hallucinating! Carlos Mencia was under the bed, attempting to steal jokes as you convalesced.

MJ, maybe that's where he hides while he reads Dugan's dictionary.

I've seen 3 signs around here that I've been wanting to photograph because I think they'll contrast nicely with your stuff from Hollywood. Just haven't photographed them yet because that would involve risking life and limb--not that I won't do it. . .

Geez Surcie, risk life and limb? Where are these signs, underneath a 2001 Lexus?

  9. You and Martha Jane crack me up. And get Surcie to post those signs!

(Just found out you were HIT BY A CAR!!! Glad to hear you're okay. Getting hit by a Lexus would be no way to go.)

Oh, no. Nothing like that. One of them is on a winding rural road where everyone drives way too fast and I'll probably have to park in the swamp to get the shot. But you won't be able to tell that by the photo. Another one might force me to interact with KKK members who probably won't take too kindly to my Volvo. But you won't be able to tell that, either.
