L.A. Sign Of The Times #84

I got this guy when I was a kid. I named him Teddy because I apparently had no imagination.

I've dragged him from Washington D.C. to New York to L.A.

I'm not a stuffed animal person but I can't seem to emotionally unload Teddy the Badly Named Stuffed Bear. Does anyone else keep a stuffed animal from their childhood?

And what does your shrink say about that?

  1. I still have a stuffed bear from when I was a little boy. I can't get rid of it either. Maybe it's because the expression on the bear's face tells you everything you could ever need to know about my childhood.

  2. Stan, the face on mine is a blank expression. It reminds me of my Dad when I would ask him for a raise in my allowance.

  3. -->Troy has a Teddy too. Good thing because his father purged the rest of his stuffed animals yesterday named Rhino, Monkey and Moose. George and Butterscotch came with names and they got to stick around.

  5. Those attachments are good for us, I think. I love it. And Teddy is so cliche it's original!

    Cheers,

  6. I have a stuffed mouse, appropriately named Mousie, that I've had since a child.
I just can't seem to get rid of it and don't think I ever will.

  7. Tightwad and his "roommate" packed a lot of our stuff for us. They were all in VODKA boxes from the liquor store. Ironic.

  8. I gave my bear to Em, so I sort of still have it.
I keep a lot of other crap as keepsakes though.
I have a lot of pictures, music albums, drawings (mine and the kids), books, videos etc. I won't part with.
I expect the pictures on the walls, the books to be read to me the videos played for me, and the music played form me, at the nursing home.

Sorry you have to move. I've heard it's more stressful than divorce and death combined.

  9. Oh and most important I have Cokee, my 18 year old cat, who I cuddle with everyday. She just needs to live to be the oldest cat in the world.

  10. My daughter has a near flattened panda named Panda. I have just given her one of my old stuffed animals too - a rabbit I called Velvet and she renamed him Strawberry and said he is now a girl.

  11. No stuffed animals. Just wondering if you slept with Teddy. Probably a lot more reliable than other boyfriends.

  12. No stuffed animals, either fake or real. I DID keep a big teddy bear for what seemed to be an abnormally long time but I think it's become fossilized by now. My shrink says that's OK.

I had one for years. I think it's in my mom's attic now. I guess his name would be Purple Bear if he had one.
